Despite the extreme heat on Sunday, June 11, dozens of people in the community of San José de Cervera brought their pets to our 11th sterilization campaign in that community, during which we sterilized 75 animals—58 dogs and 17 cats. The campaign took place in the Salón de Ejidatarios, located in the little park that marks the center of the village. It was our third campaign there in three years.
Everything ran smoothly. The photos tell it all.
Many thanks to Drs. Verónica Almaguer, Ricardo Montes de Oca, and Arturo Rocha, our three veterinarians; to Julia Salido, our campaign coordinator; to Karla Ahumada and Abril Herrera, veterinary students who assisted the surgeons; to Kathya Amaya, our teacher in the children’s education program; and to the following volunteers for setting up the sterilization unit, registering the cases, preparing the animals for surgery, preparing the post-operative medications, attending the animals after their surgery, and packing up our equipment after the campaign on a very hot day: Mary Beth Canavan, Rosemarie Conde, Fran Espinoza, Victoria Larrazolo, Tony López, Beth Lozano, Adhán Mata López, Lourdes Rosas, Vicky Sandoval, and José Velázquez.
Our next campaign will be on July 2nd, the location will be announced soon on our Facebook page.
