María Madera Cabral crochets made-to-order dolls that closely resemble their subjects. For our annual fiesta in February, she offered to make one as an auction prize. Part-time Guanajuato resident Vivian Little was the lucky winner of her prize and submitted a photograph of her beagle, Vito, as the subject of the doll she wanted María to make for her.
A few weeks later, María invited Vivian to her home to receive the doll. To Vivian’s delight, the doll, which María had carefully gift-wrapped, bore a remarkable resemblance to Vito.
