At the invitation of the mayor’s office, Julia Salido and Tony López participated in an event in front of City Hall on December 7 to draw attention to the importance of animal welfare. The event honored retiring veterinarian Filipe Manríquez for his years of service in the community and also drew attention to our organization’s contribution to animal welfare. Julia Salido and Tony López accepted a certificate signed by the mayor, Samatha Smith, recognizing Amigos de los Animales’s de Guanajuato commitment to animal welfare and education of the public.

During the event, Julia and Tony demonstrated their teaching activities with children by having children present play our giant board game modeled on the game Snakes and Ladders, which rewards positive treatments of pets and punishes negative ones. They also distributed copies of the didactic coloring book Convive seguro con perros (Live Safely with Dogs).
