Grab your tickets now for our anniversary Fiesta de Carnaval on February 16!

,

Our February bash is always the party of the year. This time the theme will be Carnival (think Mardi gras, Rio de Janeiro, New Orleans), and it will be our most colorful fiesta ever. While guests dine, the Tea for Two duo Aldo León and Ale Martínez will perform cool jazz. Afterward Hector Murillo and his partner will give a group salsa lesson, to be followed by an hour of dancing. Wear a costume—or not, as you wish; we’ll have a prize for the best one. There will also be a raffle of numerous outstanding prizes.

Susan Pataky and her team of volunteers are preparing delicious botanas, and Jacquie Elliott and her team of volunteers are providing homemade desserts. As in the past, Suzy Thompson’s store of donated clothing and housewares will be on the ground floor (admission free). Upstairs will be Terri Rasmussen’s Tiny Tiendita featuring unusual gift items, plus collectible treasures donated for this occasion.

The doors open at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online before February 14 for $450 pesos at amigosanimalesgto.org/fiesta or from Amigos board members and fiesta volunteers Liz Carranza (473 756 2977), Rosemarie Conde (+1 956 516 1187), Jann Lee (267 600 7580), Joslyn Lewis (473 155 3383), Maureen Neeley (+1 562 243 0863), Julia Salido (473 105 3320), Tom Reavley (473 560 0982), Suzy Thompson (473 106 2222), Juan Jesús Vargas (473 141 0766), and Sandra Ward (473 137 0550). Tickets purchased after February 13 or at the door will be $500 pesos.  Each ticket includes food, your first alcoholic or nonalcoholic drink, and a free raffle ticket.

The Fiesta is our main fundraising activity of the year and a great opportunity to support our mission of reducing the abandonment, mistreatment, and suffering of dogs and cats in the Guanajuato municipality. Our work focuses on low-cost sterilization services and education.

If you have items you’d like to donate for Suzy’s store, contact Suzy (473 106 2222) or Rosemarie (+1 956 516 1187) to arrange for them to be picked up—or bring them to La Casa Grande at noon on February 14.
