We’ll celebrate our 22nd anniversary and Valentine’s Day with another lively fiesta at La Casa Grande on Sunday, February 11, and we hope to see you there! In Mexico, Valentine’s Day which also known as Friendship Day.
We’ll have delicious botanas prepared by Chef Susan Pataky and her volunteers, drinks, live music, a silent auction of attractive prizes, a shop of great bargains, and a raffle. Details to come in future issues of Barks and Meows.
For now, though, we ask that you set aside household items and clothing in good condition, accessories, costume jewelry, and other items that you no longer use (no books or CDs, please) for Suzy’s Shop. Contact Suzy Thompson (fleecet@aol.com) to let her know you have donations.
In response to your comments, we’ve decided to hold the auction only at the event, not online as in the past two years. Please contact Sandra Ward (sandra@amigosanimalgto.org) if you wish to offer us an auction prize. Popular prizes are experiences and services such as transportation, hotel lodging and accommodations in private homes, restaurant and home-hosted meals, guided hikes, and tours; live music and entertainment; health and beauty treatments; learning opportunities such as art, language, and cooking lessons; and pet services. Other appropriate prizes are antiques, fine jewelry, ceramics, handmade textiles, sculptures, and portraits commissioned by winners of themselves or their pets. Paintings and prints will be curated and must be ready for display.
Finally, if you would like to help us with organizing or running the event, please let contact us at amigos@amigosanimalesgto.org.
